CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
· University of Central Florida Anxiety Disorders Clinic: As Clinical Director, Dr. Bricker provided supervision to clinical psychology doctoral students. She also conducted diagnostic evaluations and individual and group cognitive-behavioral interventions to children, adolescents and adults with various developmental, personality, anxiety and mood disorders. As project coordinator for a grant funded by Autism Speaks, Dr. Bricker co-developed and conducted a group social skills training program for adolescents with High Functioning Autism.
· Penn State College of Medicine/Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Anxiety, Stress & Trauma Division: Dr. Bricker provided individual and group therapy to patients participating in two National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded treatment studies conducted by Deborah Beidel, Ph.D. on Social Phobia and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Vietnam Veterans. Treatment included imaginal exposure, in-vivo exposure and group social skills training. Funded by Autism Speaks, Dr. Bricker also conducted a group social skills training program for children with High Functioning Autism. Additional responsibilities included providing outpatient diagnostic and mental health services to children, adolescents and adults, including conducting exposure therapy groups for adults with a fear of public speaking; conducting psychotherapy groups on the child and adolescent inpatient unit; training psychiatry fellows in behavior therapy; and training staff on the adult inpatient unit in conducting cognitive-behavioral group therapy with a psychoeducational focus.
PREDOCTORAL TRAINING
· Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital : Dr. Bricker received extensive training in cognitive and cognitive-behavioral therapy through completion of her predoctoral internship at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital in San Diego, CA. Through the Senior Intensive Outpatient Program and the Cognitive Therapy Outpatient Program, Dr. Bricker conducted cognitively based psychoeducational groups and group cognitive therapy for adults with severe mood and anxiety disorders. Additionally, Dr. Bricker implemented cognitive-behavioral interventions through individual, family, and group psychotherapy with children and adolescents with acute disorders and/or dual-diagnosis in an intensive care unit.
· Affiliated Santé Group of Wheaton, MD: Dr. Bricker provided psychological services, including psychological assessments, individual, and family therapy at a community mental health center. Dr. Bricker also provided group therapy in an adult partial hospitalization program for clients suffering from serious and persistent mental illness and those with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse or developmental disability.
· Maryland Center for Anxiety Disorders, University of Maryland: Dr. Bricker received specialized training in CBT from leading anxiety experts, Doctors Deborah Beidel and Samuel Turner. Dr. Bricker conducted CBT with children and adults presenting with various anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, selective mutism, and social phobia. Behavioral interventions included incentive programs, systematic desensitization, exposure and response prevention, flooding, progressive muscle relaxation, and interoceptive conditioning.
· University of Maryland Counseling Center, College Park, MD: Dr. Bricker provided short-term individual psychotherapy to university students presenting with problems such as anxiety, depression, and anger management.
· Patuxent Institution Treatment Department: Dr. Bricker acquired a variety of clinical and forensic experiences at a maximum security correctional facility designed specifically for the rehabilitation of male and female adult and juvenile criminal offenders. Dr. Bricker served as a voting member of the evaluation team, which ultimately determined inmates’ potential for rehabilitation and, subsequently, eligibility for the Patuxent Eligible Persons Program. Clinical responsibilities included administering, scoring, and interpreting a battery of cognitive, personality, and psychopathy screenings.
